Bengal Motor Sports Club (B.M.S.C.) is a
premiere institute to promote motor sports in Eastern India. The institute
was founded in 1998.
The Club was formed by the relevant people from all sectors of motorsports and motoring in West Bengal.
Members included patrons like Late Subhas Chakraborty the former Sports Minister of West Bengal, Late Kalyan Bhadra the then President AAEI, Late B.K. Saha, the then President of Bengal Olympic Association and many other luminaries.
Members also included names of Rally legends like Rajat Majumdar, Bharat Parekh, and many other champions.
Most of the motor sports enthusiast and veteran motor sports specialists were instrumental in the formation of the club. Few to name are Manab Majumdar, Dev Sarkar, Kunal Banerjee, Debasish Bhattacharya, Late Kishalaya Goswami and many others.
The main object of the club was to make the motor sports more popular and to take the sports to masses – breaking the jinks that motorsports is meant for the elites only.
BMSC started its journey with Kolkata –Santiniketan Servo Kaviguru Rally 1998 followed by Independence Rally on 15th August 1998 and Indo Nepal Friendship Rally 1999…….
Under the able leadership of Mr. Rajat Majumdar, since then BMSC never looked back or stopped its fabulous run of organizing one event after another.
At present BMSC is the only Motor Sports Club in Eastern India which has all the required infra-structure to organize all sorts of motor sports events on a regular basis.
BMSC is now one of the four major Motor Sports Club In India, as per the credit point system of the apex body of Motor Sports in India,i.e., FMSCI.
BMSC, since its birth, is affiliated to the apex body of Motor Sports in India,namely Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI). Since last six years BMSC has a council member seat in FMSCI by virtue of its credit point rating.
Most importantly the President of BMSC (since its incorporation) Mr. Rajat Majumdar had been elected President of FMSCI in 2005.
FMSCI is the apex body to control motor sports in India– recognized by Government of India and also by Indian Olympic Association.
